No, other way around. WEC’s P2 class cars are elligible for IMSA’s DPi class.

This is what i’ve found so far... from IMSA: “DPi cars, 2017 LM P2 cars and closed-cockpit 2016 LM P2 cars with IMSA-homologated engines will be eligible. After the 2017 season, 2016 LM P2 cars no longer will be eligible.”

LMP2 can compete in IMSA. If a DPI team wants to run in FIA they need to acquire the LMP2 bodywork and engine for their chassis.

oh ok. Interesting how some 2016 LMP2 can join in 2017 only

I guess I didn’t see that much difference in DPI and LMP2 for them to run in WEC.

Yep, the 2016 cars are grandfathered in this season. Next season its body work and engine that determines where you can run the car(s). The underlying chassis are identical so conversions wouldn’t be that difficult, but to run in WEC you also need the standard software/ECUs ontop of the default bodywork and spec Gibson (Nissan) engine.

There isn’t. It’s just that the DPI parts aren’t homologated for FIA competition.

In other news, I just ordered some WeatherTech mats for my car!

The mats, they’re good. Unfortunately, they don’t make laser cut mats for my G35. :(

Any time! In case you’re wondering, the Cadillac DPi uses the same Chevrolet (Ilmor?) NA V8 as the old Chevrolet DPs, but now in a chassis that is 400lb lighter.

and a ton more aero I bet. Mazda axed the diesel?

Yep, axed it at the end of 2015. They used AER turbocharged 4-cylinders in 2016, and carry that motor over into the RT24P (now making 600hp somewhat reliably) for 2017. It’s no longer branded SkyActiv since it has no ties to any of their road-going engines.

Is yours a coupe? I see listings on their site for the sedan.

oh ok. Didn’t know that. Either way, my anual trip to LoneStar LeMans will be extra neato to see both concepts in action. I wonder if any LMP2 teams will run in both series

Indeed! Can’t wait for all the 2017 spec machinery to make their trip north to Mosport. Going to be a hectic season of photography for me.

As for dual-entry teams, because of logistics they may be limited to partial events stateside (excluding the WEC which has the 6H of COTA). The usual teams may make the trip over for the Patron Endurance Cup events, but beyond that I don’t know of many others who would consider full-season IMSA entries other than Rebellion and ESM (both of which would use the spec Gibson engines)

Looks like Infiniti at one point sold custom fit all-season mats. Not sure if they’re still available but might be worth a call to your local Infiniti dealer’s parts counter.

Word.

Weathertech did have a line of non-laser cut all-weather mats that I found on Newegg (of all things) and those have done OK. They still move around a bit but its better than nothing.
